Float Plan

Float Plans: what they are and how to file one.

A float plan is a list of basic information that you want to leave with a responsible person and/or the business from where you rent the kayaks for your trip. It should contain emergency contacts, number of people travelling in a group, etc. Filling it out also makes you think about what to do in case an emergency should happen. A completed float plan can help in rescue efforts whether by the coast guard or by private means.

To make it easier for you we have included a float plan on this page. Just copy it, send to as many people as you wish, give one copy to the kayak rental business and keep one copy with you.
