Course Description:
Paddle Canada Level Two Skills provides the theory and skills for proficient kayak touring in moderate sea conditions. Topics covered include - touring, risk assessment, bracing, maneuvering strokes, combined strokes, sustained paddling, introduction to rolling and an overnight camp. We spend three days based at Jericho Beach developing and refining our skills, then put all we have learned into use on a one night camp out in Indian Arm. Paddle Canada Level One Sea Kayaking or equivalent skills are required for this course.
Cost:
- Five days with an Overnight Trip - $699 with boat rental
- Five days with an Overnight Trip - $599 with own boat
Prerequisites:
- Reliable bow rescue. Comfort and control while capsized in a kayak.
- Efficient assisted & unassisted re-entry skills.
- Effective edge control for sweep and brace turns.
- Efficient forward paddling for sustained traveling, 6 miles at 3 knots.
- Strong forward stroke for moving across current, through waves and towing.
- 13 - 16 years of age
