Course Description:
Level One allows a novice kayaker to build on the skills gained in the Recreational programs. Level one is about discovering your edge and developing your grace while handling an ocean kayak. Safety considerations include; towing, communication and rescues. We will also explore further into the images of navigation, route finding and seamanship. Flatwater certification or equivalent skills is a pre-requisite for this course
Cost:
- 2 days on the ocean - $329
- Drysuit rental (optional) - $35 per day
Prerequisites:
- Comfort and control while capsizing a kayak
- Efficient assisted re-entry skill
- Efficient forward paddling
- Basic boat and gear knowledge
- 16 years of age
Certification:
- Paddle Canada Level One Skills
- Solo Recovery Card
